Over 2500 movies release every year all over the world, but we can never watch or let's be honest, want to give time to all of them. Well, agreed, bragging rights belong to those who have the biggest library of films in their kitty; however, not everyone has that kind of time to spare.

And when you do to watch one or two, would you not want to relive the most epic cinematic universes ever created in the history of motion pictures?

Our list will capture only the best of the best. The most rewatchable films. Chances are that you have already seen these movies, but if you find any you haven't watched yet, we highly recommend you grab your copy, buy enough popcorns and beer for the show is about to begin.

And don't worry, we are not giving out any spoilers.

10. Forrest Gump

Meet the man with an IQ of a nobody but the divine intentions of God.

Tom Hanks narration and the tragic life everyone around him leads will hurt you first, make you happy second, take you on a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs in between, and finally, Forrest Gump will leave you influenced.

We assure you the satisfying itch will remain for a while after the movies is over.

Our favourite quote

"My momma always said, 'Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."

9. Fight Club

You must watch it more than once solely because it's impossible to fully understand what's going on in it the first time.

It's not a movie, it's a cult. David Fincher gets the best out of actors. It's true for a lot of them, if you have seen other movies directed by him, you might agree.

Be ready for some bloodshed, a lot of self inflicting pain, unwilling philosophers, and revolutionists with very controversial but convincing ideas. It doesn't matter if you know the ultimate spoiler - that penny drop moment - you will still love it for its style, acting, screenplay, dialogues, and of course, the 'Fight Club' that nobody talks about! Oops! My bad.

Our favourite quote

"I see all this potential, and I see it squandered. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables - slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our great war is a spiritual war... Our great depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars, but we won't. We're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off."

8. Kill Bill

What happens when you betray your bride? Well, in Kill Bill, you along with 100s or probably 1000s of your friends die in all the creative marshal-artistic ways possible! Uma Thurman goes on slicing countless modern ninjas like crushing candies in Candy Crush.

Watch both the movies back-to-back and your heartbeat is sure to rise and fall and come to a standstill (god forbid). You will witness the bride creating art with blood and enjoying it, too.

Our favourite quote

"I am gonna ask you questions. And every time you don't give me answers, I'm gonna cut something off. And I promise you, they will be things you will miss."

7. The Shawshank Redemption

How do I want to die? I don't care as long as Morgan Freeman is narrating my death.

The Shawshank Redemption is perhaps the best script ever written for the big screen. The narrative is the best you can hope to find out of the millions of movies out there. It's the #1 movie on IMDB. Yes, you read it right. #1.

If you want to raise someone's spirit and reignite hope again, then show them The Shawshank Redemption.

Our favourite quote

Trust us, the movies is so full of them, we feel obliged to quote more than one...

  • "It’s funny. On the outside, I was an honest man. Straight as an arrow. I had to come to prison to be a crook."

  • "These walls (prison) are funny. First you hate ‘em, then you get used to ‘em. After long enough, you get so you depend on ‘em. That’s ‘institutionalised’."

  • "Geology is the study of pressure and time. That’s all it takes really, pressure, and time. That, and a big goddamn poster. "

6. Memento

What makes memento rewatchable is that you have no choice but to watch it several times. To comprehend one of the most intelligent non-linear stories ever told is not an easy task. Memento demands attention and IQ; without which it will be fairly impossible to appreciate its true value. Christopher Nolan is a director who has never made a bad movie. And Memento is his best movie to date.

Our favourite quote

"Is that what your little note says? It must be hard living your life off a couple of scraps of paper. You mix your laundry list with your grocery list you’ll end up eating your underwear for breakfast."

5. Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

You might wonder how can a black & white movie made in the 1960s be rewatchable. You wouldn't know unless you watch this epic and bizarre satire. It's a combination of two separate worlds hard to imagine together - Nuclear War & Comedy! How insensitive you may say, but then Stanley Kubrick does it so smoothly that you will stop worrying within five minutes of the beginning of the film and learn to love the bomb before the credits start rolling.

Anecdotes so dark, ironies so vivid, you'd want everyone around you to experience them first hand, and that's what will make you want to watch Dr. Strangelove again and again.

Our favourite quote

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room."

4. 2001: A Space Odyssey

The greatest sci-fi of all time. Period.

And also the second Stanley Kubrick's film that made it to our list of the top 10 most rewatchable movies of all time.

A lot has been said and written about 2001: A Space Odyssey, and there's still so much potential. It's the most ambitious movie ever made. Film schools across the world use it as a discipline. Yes. Aspiring filmmakers and actors study it at great length.

Why does it deserve many watches? Watch it and find out!

Our favourite quote

DAVE:  Open the pod bay doors, Hal. HAL:  I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that. DAVE:  What’s the problem? HAL:  l think you know what the problem is just as well as l do. DAVE:  What are you talking about, Hal? HAL:  This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it. DAVE:  I don’t know what you're talking about, Hal. HAL:  l know that you and Frank were planning to disconnect me, and I’m afraid that's something I can’t allow to happen. DAVE:  Where the hell’d you get that idea, Hal? HAL:  Although you took very thorough precautions in the pod against my hearing you, I could see your lips move. DAVE:  All right, Hal. I’ll go in through the emergency air lock. HAL:  Without your space helmet, Dave, you’re going to find that rather difficult. DAVE:  Hal, I won’t argue with you anymore. Open the doors! HAL:  Dave...This conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye.

3. Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

You might wonder why not the entire Star Wars series made it to the list. While we like all the movies, let's be honest, some of the Star Wars were plain bad. When the second batch of episodes started to come out in the late 90s - from Episode I to Episode III - the first two films disappointed many Star Wars fans.

What made Revenge of the Sith special is the war and making of one of the greatest villains - Darth Vader.

This epic made it possible to watch Star Wars from Episode 1-6. For those who are not aware, Episode 4, 5, and 6 came out first in the late 70s and early 80s. Yes. Imagine the scale of ambition spreading over four decades.

Our favourite quote

Anakin Skywalker: I hate you! Obi-Wan Kenobi: You were my brother, Anakin. I loved you.

2. The Matrix

Too bad the chosen one didn't make it to our #1 spot, but hey Neo, you have another thing going now for you with John Wick, and we hope you don't mind the second spot.

Wachowskis burned the entire budget allocated for the film for the initial sequence of some minutes. When they showed it to Warner Brothers, they allocated new funds.

Result?

One of the greatest and arguably the most stylish sci-fi movie came into being.

The evergreen (like literally) style, fight sequences, dull green dystopian world and much more make this the second best rewatchable movie of all time.

Our favourite quote

"I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet; you are a plague and we are the cure."

1. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Watch the special extended versions.

You will require 16 hours to finish the epic journey to the middle earth. You will face many creatures, friends, and enemies. The power of the ring will drive you insane. Doubt will often find its way in the depths of your thoughts. You will fight many battles. You will win some and lose some. We have met people who have watched The Lord of the Rings over 50 times and read the book too. The trilogy will continue to be rewatched all over the world, and nothing will ever come close. Many people like to compare LOTR with Game of Thrones, but little do they know, or they know nothing, just like John Snow.

Some sources confirm that Amazon is working on creating a show. Let's hope it's worth it!
